Nelson was born and raised in Mackay, and graduated from James Cook University in 2010.
He has worked extensively in both Australia and England. Nelson returned to his hometown of Mackay in 2014, and since then has worked in both hospital and private practice settings.
His areas of expertise include treating neck, shoulder, lower back, knee and ankle pain or dysfunction.
He also has a strong interest in treating chronic lower back pain, pre/post operative orthopaedic care, and helping everyday people return to normal function. Whether you are a weekend warrior, elite athlete, injured worker or going through your golden years, Nelson is the person to help you out.
Denis has been a physiotherapist in Mackay for nearly 20 years. Born in Mauritius, he moved to Australia in 1998 on an Olympic scholarship. While competing as an Olympic and Commonwealth games athlete, he was also studying Physiotherapy at Latrobe University in Melbourne.
Denis has very extensive experience in musculoskeletal, sports and vestibular physiotherapy. He has continued his professional development in these areas over the years, and he has a very strong passion for treating difficult shoulder injuries, chronic lower back pain and complex dizziness and vertigo issues.
Denis has extensive access to specialist care and advice through his years of working closely with local and interstate specialists.
Madison is a Mackay local who studied physiotherapy at James Cook University, graduating in 2014. Madison has over 10 years of clinical experience working both in Australia and the United Kingdom.
She has worked in hospital, aged care and private practice settings over the years and has a vast knowledge in treating acute injuries and managing chronic conditions. Madison can help you out with multiple issues, however she has a special interest in treating women’s health problems, hip pain, osteoarthritis and spinal pain. She has recently completed post graduate studies in Women’s health Physiotherapy.
Sam is a 2012 Physiotherapy Graduate from Griffith University, on the Gold Coast . She returned to Mackay in 2016 to be closer to family and enjoy the North Queensland lifestyle.
With 9 years of experience as a qualified Physiotherapist across both private practice and hospital settings, Sam later expanded her career into Orthopaedics as a Product Specialist. In this role, she worked closely with orthopaedic surgeons in musculoskeletal, trauma, and joint arthroplasty procedures, gaining in-depth knowledge of surgical techniques and post-operative rehabilitation.
Now returning to physiotherapy practice, Sam aims to integrate her clinical expertise with her advanced orthopaedic knowledge to provide comprehensive, evidence-based care for her clients. She has extensive experience in managing chronic pain and specialises in the assessment and treatment of upper limb, lower back, hip, and knee conditions.
Konrad was born and raised in South Africa, and moved to Mackay in early 2025. He has been practicing as a physiotherapist for several years, both in South Africa and Australia.
With a background of competing and coaching in MMA, Konrad has a strong passion for assessing, diagnosing and treating athletes. Konrad is meticulous during his appointments, and enjoys helping people with injury prevention, strength training and general conditioning. He has vast experience in treating multiple musculoskeletal conditions and helping people to achieve their rehab goals. Konrad is happy to treat people with normal day to day injuries, work based injuries and athletes of all ages.
Layton is a proud Mackay local who completed his Masters of Clinical Exercise Physiology at Charles Sturt University in 2023.
With over seven years of experience across both strength and conditioning and clinical settings, he has worked with a wide range of clients—from junior and semi-professional athletes, to individuals managing acute and chronic health conditions.
Layton is passionate about helping people achieve their goals, whether they’re recovering from injury, managing a long-term condition or starting their health and fitness journey. He has a particular interest in musculoskeletal rehab, chronic disease management, neurological and developmental conditions, athletic performance,
return-to-sport programs and workplace injury rehabilitation. No matter your condition, injury or goal, Layton is here to support you every step of the way.
Leanne is the Practice Manager of the ACE Physio team, and she is the glue that holds the clinic together. She has been working in healthcare administration for over 20 years, and has extensive knowledge and experience in running busy healthcare clinics. Leanne is also a proud local, and is passionate about supporting the health needs of the Mackay community.
Born and raised in the Mackay Region, Ann has been helping the people of our community for over 30 years, with administration experience in pharmacy, medical and physiotherapy.
Ann is a jack of all trades and helps to coordinate and organise our appointments while ensuring the ACE Physiotherapy Mackay clinic runs smoothly. If you have any queries about appointments or physiotherapy, give the very friendly Ann a call.

As primary care practitioners no referral is necessary. Walk-ins are welcome.
Yes they can, if indicated. Furthermore, onward referral to specialists can also be made where necessary.
Private health insurance is not needed for appointments.
Medicare rebates can only be offered where your GP has already issued you with a care plan. These of course have eligibility criteria.
We happily accept all referrals.
While it is helpful to bring this with you, our clinicians are able to log into all local radiology clinics to review your imagery results.
